AI Labelling Label AI images visibly
Label AI images on your WordPress website visibly: classify them in the media library, the label appears automatically on the front end, and every classification is logged. A tool for implementing and documenting labelling under Art. 50 of the EU AI Act.
What the labelling looks like on your images
Two displays are available: discreetly as an “AI” symbol whose explanation appears on hover, tap or keyboard focus, or as a label with visible text. Adjust it the way you would in the plugin – your choice then applies to all classified images on your website.
Hover over the symbol or tap it. Sample image: a drawing, not an AI image. The appearance on your website may differ slightly depending on your theme.
Settings
Do I have to label this image?
Three questions for a first orientation. Visible labelling is required for so-called deepfakes: AI images that look real and show something that exists or could exist.
Was the image generated by AI or was its content altered with AI?Standard editing such as exposure, cropping, noise removal or retouching is not meant.
Does it show people, places, objects or events that exist or could exist like this? For example your building, your rooms, your team, your dishes, your products.
Could a viewer take it for a real photo or a real recording?Recognisably artificial, abstract or illustrative images are not meant.
For orientation only, not legal advice. The relevant provisions are Art. 50(4) and Art. 3(60) of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (AI Act), which have applied since 2 August 2026, and the guidelines of the European Commission. You make the classification in each individual case; if in doubt, ask your legal adviser.
Three steps to a labelled image
Classify
In the image details of the media library you choose “AI-generated” or “AI-edited” – individually or via bulk selection for many images at once. A filter shows what has already been classified.
Display
The labelling appears automatically wherever the image is used – as an “AI” symbol or as a label with text: in Elementor (image, image box, gallery, featured image), in the block editor and as a featured image in the theme. For background images there is the “AI notice” widget.
Document
Every classification is logged: which image, which classification, who and when. An overview lists all labelled images – helpful when someone asks.
What the plugin does
- Classification “AI-generated” or “AI-edited” directly in the media library
- Bulk selection and filter for large media libraries
- Choice of display: discreetly as an “AI” symbol with explanation, or as a label with text
- Labelling on the image in Elementor: image, image box, galleries, featured image
- Likewise in the block editor and on the theme’s featured images
- Elementor widget “AI notice” for background images
- Texts, position (four corners) and style freely adjustable
- Small thumbnails can stay without a label (minimum width)
- Optionally machine-readable: JSON-LD with IPTC “digitalSourceType”
- Log of classifications and overview of all labelled images
- Labelling keeps running after the licence expires
- Deactivates without leaving traces
- Automatic updates via the licence manager
What the plugin deliberately does not do
So you know where you stand:
- It does not detect AI images by itself. You know which images are AI-generated – the classification remains your decision.
- It does not make a website “automatically compliant” and is no substitute for legal advice. It is the tool with which you implement and document your decision.
- It does not assign Elementor background images automatically; for those you place the “AI notice” widget in the container.
- It does not label texts or chatbots. Separate requirements apply to those.
